Who is Matt Rife? This TikTok comedian just sold out 2 tour stops in Wichita this fall
A TikTok-famous comedian is making a stop in Wichita in October, gaining enough buzz on social media to quickly sell out a tour stop.
Matt Rife will be at Century II concert hall Oct. 19 as part of his “ProbleMATTic World Tour,” and the demand for tickets quickly skyrocketed, leading to a second show slated for the same day.
Here’s what to know about the comedian before he makes his appearance in Wichita this fall.
Who is Matt Rife?
Rife got his start with stand-up comedy at the age of 15. He was cast in Nick Cannon’s comedy show “Wild ‘N Out” in 2015 and has appeared on several other shows since, including NBC’s “Bring The Funny” and MTV’s “The Challenge: Champs Vs. Stars.”
The comedian self-released his first comedy special, “Only Fans,” in 2021 on YouTube. His most recent comedy special, “Matthew Steven Rife,” was self-released in April and can also be viewed on YouTube.
Rife’s third comedy special will be filmed this fall in Washington, D.C., according to LiveNation entertainment.
With 14.7 million followers on TikTok, the 27-year-old comedian frequently posts comedy clips on the platform. His TikTok videos from his stand-up shows average 10s of millions of views, with all his TikToks combined gaining more than 240 million likes.
Rife isn’t the only comedian who reached internet fame using the popular social media platform. TikTok has also become a source of entertainment for its users, which are made up of mainly people younger than 30.
Women use the app more than men, according to Business of Apps, but the gap has been closing. In 2022 alone, Business of Apps reports the platform had 1.4 billion active users per month.
The ProbleMATTic World Tour
Rife’s Wichita stop is one of more than 100 dates on his “ProbleMATTic World Tour.”
The tour was announced June 5 and officially begins July 10 in Bend, Ore., and ends October 2024 in Milan. The tour also includes six July stops in Kansas City, which are also all sold out, as well as the Wichita shows.
Resale tickets to the Wichita shows are listed on SeatGeak starting at $161 and reaching more than $800.
Wichita and Kansas City echo the trends of the tour, with the majority of stops being sold out, according to Rife’s website. To view other dates on his tour, visit the tour’s website.
