Century II’s new managers introduce new logo that incorporates the building’s iconic roof
Century II in Wichita is under new management, and now the downtown performing arts center has a new logo.
At a Wednesday morning news conference, officials with ASM Global — which took over control of the building last fall — revealed new “branding” for the building that will begin appearing on signs, staff uniforms, advertisements and more.
It features a blue letter “C” whose outer edge looks like the iconic blue roof on the building, which opened in 1969. The logo was designed by ASM Global, which also manages Intrust Bank Arena and The Orpheum Theatre in Wichita.
“We are so excited about this logo,” said Chris Whitney, the general manager of Century II. “We’re trying to incorporate modern yet classic. We’re trying to encompass the iconic pieces of the building, creating a fresh look while keeping the tradition of the building.”
The re-branding also will be reflected on a new Century II website that’s in the works, Whitney said.
ASM Global signed a five-year management agreement with the city of Wichita last year and took over running Century II on Oct. 1, 2021. The move was opposed at the time by Save Century II organizers, who said they worried about the future of the building.
But several members of that group, including its chairwoman Celeste Racette, were present at the logo unveiling on Wednesday.
Racette said she liked the logo and has been impressed by management of the building so far. She’s relieved that talk of tearing down Century II has largely died down for now, and she’s hoping it stays that way.
“To me, we’ve got the right people in place to make this successful,” she said. “So we’ll help them. We’re trying to help them any way we can. “
