What to do in Wichita this weekend: See the circus, celebrate St. Pat
Spring Break is wrapping up, but there’s still time to sneak in a little fun, and this weekend will hold many opportunities for both kids and adults.
Here’s a look at some of the events happening this weekend and into next week.
Three-day circus
Friday through Sunday, Hartman Arena, 8151 N. Hartman Arena Drive
The Carden Circus Spectacular is coming to Park City for a three-day, multi-show run at Hartman Arena. It will feature aerial acrobats, horses, ponies, performing dogs and more and runs Friday through Sunday at the venue. Friday will feature a 6:30 p.m. show, when all seats will be $9 for ages 3 and up. Shows will be at both 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, when reserved seats for all ages will be $24 and general admission tickets will be $20 for ages 13 and over and $10 for ages 2-12. Gridiron 2022
8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Roxy’s Downtown, 412 ½ E. Douglas
Gridiron, the annual musical news spoof written by and starring local journalists, continues with shows at 8 p.m. both Friday and Saturday at Roxy’s Downtown. Titled “GridiCron: The Wichita Variant,” the show will feature sketches about topics ranging from Police Chief Gordon Ramsay’s departure to the sudden influx of car washes in Wichita. Gridiron, which is a fundraiser for journalism scholarships, will offer both in-person and online viewing opportunities. Singing Quakers
Friday-Sunday, Friends University, 2100 W. University
Friends University’s Singing Quakers will perform a show called Songs of the Spirit this weekend in the Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Center on the Friends campus. The concert will feature works by Brahms, Dett, Desenclos, Woo and more. The shows are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Blippi on stage
6 p.m. Tuesday, Hartman Arena, 8151 N. Hartman Arena Drive
“Blippi The Musical” will entertain local 2- to 7-year-olds at Hartman Arena on Tuesday. The show will feature the famous YouTube character teaching children about the world around them and inviting them to sing and dance along. The show is at 6 p.m. Tickets range from $28 to $68 and are available at ticketmaster.com
St. Patrick’s Day bar crawl
4 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Old Town
St. Patty’s Day is technically over, but a big St. Patrick’s Day bar crawl is scheduled to happen at a lineup of bars around Old Town, including Heroes, Industry and Peerless from 4 p.m. to midnight on Saturday. A ticket includes two drinks or shots, a badge and lanyard, access to food and drink specials and more. Tickets are $25 at www.crawlwith.us/wichita/stpattys
