What to do in Wichita this weekend: Disney on Ice, concerts and comedy shows

Intrust Bank Arena will have Disney characters on ice. Many of the local music venues will have comedy shows and concerts. And this weekend in Wichita will also hold all sorts of shopping opportunities.

Here’s a look at some of the fun activities happening around town this weekend:

Disney on Ice’s ‘Dream Big’

Friday through Sunday, Intrust Bank Arena, 500 E. Waterman

Favorite Disney characters will come to life this weekend at the Disney On Ice show “Dream Big,” which will be presented at Intrust Bank Arena at 7 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets to the show, which will feature numbers by skaters dressed as Moana, Anna and Elsa from “Frozen” and Miguel from “Coco,” range from $15 to $80 at www.selectaseat.com, by phone at 316-755-7328 and in person at the Select-A-Seat box office inside Intrust Bank Arena.

Comedy, R&B at The Orpheum

Friday and Saturday, Orpheum Theatre, 200 N. Broadway

Wichita’s Orpheum Theatre will be busy this weekend with two big shows over two consecutive nights. On Friday, The Funny AF Comedy Tour featuring Michael Colyar and Terry Hodges along with opening act Kenny Howell will start at 8 p.m., and tickets are $35 to $60. Then, on Saturday, Grammy award-winning R&B singer Freddie Jackson will headline a 7 p.m. concert that also features Lo-Key?. Tickets to that show are $65 to $150. Vintage Market Days

Friday-Sunday, Wichita Sports Forum, 2668 N. Greenwich Court

Shopping alert: Vintage Market Days is returning to Wichita for a three-day event at the Wichita Sports Forum that will feature more than 90 vendors, artisans and makers from across the country selling vintage items, antiques, art, jewelry, clothing, plants and more. The event, titled “Bloom,” happens Friday through Sunday, and it will also include food trucks and live music. The hours for the event are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets good for admission on Friday and Saturday are $10 and good for reentry the rest of the weekend. Tickets for Sunday only are $5. Children 12 and under will be admitted free. Tickets are available at www.facebook.com/wichitavintagemarketdays and also can be purchased at the door.

Kolby Cooper in concert

8 p.m. Friday, The Cotillion, 11120 W. Kellogg

Country music star and East Texas native Kolby Cooper, known for songs like “Boy From Anderson County,” “Tired” and “Every Single Kiss,” will headline a concert at The Cotillion that starts at 8 p.m. on Friday with opening act Grant Gilbert. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets to the show are $17 at thecotillion.com

Flea Market weekend again

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Farha Sports Center, South YMCA, 3405 S. Meridian

It’s already time for another installment of the Wichita Flea Market, which will return on Saturday and Sunday with dozens of vendors offering antiques, artwork, jewelry, food items and more. The event, which happens at the Farha Sports Center at the South YMCA, will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Buzz Lightyear from “Toy Story” will be at the market from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, and Princess Merida from “Brave” will be there from noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Admission at the door is $3 for a one-day ticket and $5 for a two-day ticket. Kids 12 and under get in free.

Make-up show

8 p.m. Saturday, TempleLive, 332 E. First St. North

The concert by famed singer/songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard that was originally scheduled for Feb. 25 at TempleLive, the venue inside the Scottish Rite Center in downtown Wichita, but canceled because of weather is being made up on Saturday. It starts at 8 p.m., and doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $29 to $49 and are still available at wichita.templelive.com.
