Wichita’s Orpheum Theatre will launch 100th birthday celebration with show by R&B legend
The Orpheum Theatre in Wichita will turn 100 in September, and on Monday, it announced the first of its planned anniversary celebrations: a concert by six-time Grammy winner Dionne Warwick.
Warwick, 81, will perform at the theater, 200 N. Broadway, on Sunday, May 1. She’s an R&B legend whose 50-year career has included hits like “I Say a Little Prayer” and “That’s What Friends Are For.”
She’s also a frequent sharer of humorous thoughts via Twitter, especially about fellow celebrities, and she has recently amassed a large following on the platform, earning her the moniker “Queen of Twitter.”
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday and will be $69, $79, $89. They’ll be available at selectaseat.com, by phone at 316-755-7328, and in person at the Select-A-Seat Box Office at Intrust Bank Arena.
The Orpheum will announce details about its other planned anniversary celebrations as the Warwick show draws near.
