What to do this weekend in Wichita: Halloween fun, farmers market transitions, live music
It’s Halloween weekend, and although there’s lots of spooky fun to be had, Wichita will also be full of concerts, will see a new nightclub opening and will experience a time of transition at farmers markets.

Here are details on some of the fun waiting to be had:
Farmers market transitions
Saturday, 7001 W. 21st St. and 835 E. First St.
This Saturday marks the last outdoor market of the season at the Kansas Grown Farmers Market at 7001 W. 21st St. Though the market will move indoors for several dates through the winter, it always marks the final outdoor market with the preparation of “stone soup,” which is made with contributions from many of the produce vendors. Visitors can get a cup of soup at 10 a.m., and the market will last from 7 a.m. to noon. It also will celebrate Halloween. Attendees are invited to wear costumes and get candy from vendors. Meanwhile, the Old Town Farm & Art Market at 835 E. First St. will continue with outdoor markets through Dec. 18. It will also celebrate Halloween from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday with a Halloween dog costume contest and a vendor chili cook-off. Hours starting next Saturday, Nov. 6, will switch to 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Last chance for Dracula bar
6 p.m.-1:30 a.m., Friday through Sunday, 2120 N. Woodlawn
This weekend is your last chance to visit Headshots Bar & Grill’s Halloween-themed pop-up bar, called “Apparition: Dracula.” The bar, which runs through Sunday, serves Halloween cocktails and is decorated to look like Dracula’s castle. It will be open from 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Friday through Sunday and is in the Table Top Java Shop, next door to Headshots Bar & Grill in Brittany Center, 2120 N. Woodlawn. Only people 21 and over are allowed to attend. Reservations are not accepted, but seating is limited. There is no cover charge.
New nightclub alert
8 p.m.-2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10001 E. Kellogg
The bar known earlier this month as Midnight Rodeo has closed, and on Friday, Onyx Nightclub will reopen in its place. Though it has the same owners, the bar at 10001 E. Kellogg has steered away from its country theme and is reopening as an 18+ club that plays hip-hop, old school throwbacks, Top 40 party hits, electronic dance music and some country hits. This weekend, the bar will be open on Friday and Saturday. Both nights will include cash prizes for the best costume and the best couples’ costume. Hours will be 8 p.m.-2 a.m. The cover for ages 21 and over is $5 for women and $10 for men. For 18-20, it’s $10 for women and $15 for men.
