Weekend events: Holiday Galleria, Woofstock, Kidz Bop
Holiday Galleria is a shopper’s paradise
The arrival of the Junior League of Wichita’s Holiday Galleria each year indicates that the holiday shopping season has arrived. The 11th annual event, which continues Friday through Sunday at Century II’s Expo Hall, will feature more than 120 merchants selling accessories, candles, home decor, clothing, pet supplies, food items and more. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 general admission each day.
The event also includes a special Girls Night Out from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, which will include free goodie bags for the first 250 shoppers, free pizza and specialty cocktails. Tickets to that event are $20 at the door. Money raised at the event goes toward Junior League community projects, which this year are focused on combating child abuse. Get your pet’s pic taken at Woofstock 2014
The Wichita Eagle will once again have staff photographers, aka “The Puppy Paparazzi,” on hand at Woofstock, which lasts from 9:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Sedgwick County Park, to take portraits of people and their pets. People who have their pictures taken can go to Kansas.com/pets on Monday to get information on how to view and order photos. A portion of the sale of each print will benefit the Kansas Humane Society.
Woofstock, now in its 18th year, is a fundraising event to benefit the Kansas Humane Society. It invites pet owners to bring their dogs and enter them in contests such as Best Dressed or Doggie Musical Chairs. There also will be vendors, a food court and more. Admission is $5, free for kids 12 and under. VIP admission of $25 includes a T-shirt and prize pack. For more information, visit www.kshumane.org or call 316-524-9196. Also, see the special Woofstock section inside Friday’s Eagle.
Kidz Bop at the Orpheum
