Wichita movie theaters, Kansas Star Casino will all be closing for now
As businesses where large groups of people congregate for entertainment continue to announce temporary shutdowns, the Wichita area has added some biggies to the list.
All movie theaters in Wichita are now closed for the time being. Regal Cinemas, which owns all of the Warren Theatres in Wichita, announced on Monday that it would “remain closed until further notice” as a precaution amid worldwide coronavirus concerns.
Then, on Monday, AMC Theaters - which owns the AMC Northrock 14— also announced it would close all theaters for six to 12 weeks. Members of its Stubs A-List program will have their memberships paused during the closure, according to a tweet the theater issued.
Meanwhile, Starlite Drive-In managers said on Tuesday morning that they were planning to go ahead with business as usual but were monitoring things and would make an announcement about movies or any change of plans later Tuesday on its social media channels.
Also on Tuesday, the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane announced that it would be closing its doors. Earlier in the day, the Kansas Lottery Commission ordered the temporary closure of all casinos in the state. Kansas Star will remain open through Tuesday, according to a release, and will close at 5 a.m. on Wednesday. The casino will remain closed through at least March 30.
The closure of Kansas Star Casino and Event Center will not affect the hotel.
