A second singer from ‘American Idol’s’ Wichita auditions will appear on the ABC show
It turns out that Arthur Gunn wasn’t the only singer chosen when “American Idol’s” audition bus swung through town in September.
On Sunday evening, another singer who took a shot that day will be featured on the popular ABC show.
Makayla Brownlee, a 17-year-old from Wellington who comes from a family of musicians, will be featured on Sunday night’s show singing for celebrity judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, producers confirmed.
In a strange twist, when The Wichita Eagle covered the auditions back in September, we plucked Makayla out of the crowd of hundreds of hopefuls for an interview, so you can see her sing in the attached video.
The Eagle has another interview scheduled with Brownlee for Thursday morning, so look for a story that details her journey later this week.
Brownlee will be the second singer from the Wichita round of auditions to be featured on the show. Last month, Wichita resident and Nepal-native Arthur Gunn, 20, caused a stir when he appeared on the show singing for the celebrity judges, who praised his talent and predicted big things for him.
Brownlee’s episode will air at 7 p.m. on Sunday on ABC, Channel 10.
