Wichita Riverfest reveals cheerful design that will adorn its 2020 buttons and posters
The 2020 Wichita Riverfest is still months away, but potential party goers now know what the admission buttons and posters will look like.
On Friday morning, the festival staff revealed the 2020 design, which features a robot DJ partying on the Arkansas River and goes with the festival’s 2020 theme: “Rock Out on the River.”
The design was created by Wichita artists Meghan and Juanta Wolfe, who will share a $4,000 prize. Meghan is a freelance illustrator and photographer, and Juanta is a freelance muralist who teaches for Arts Partners’ Generation STEAM program. He spearheaded a big community mural project on South Broadway a couple of years ago.
Their design was chosen in late December by a team of design professionals, who selected it from 26 submissions.
This year’s Riverfest will run from May 29 to June 6, and admission will be a Riverfest button. Adult buttons, for ages 13 and up, will be available for $7 during an online pre-sale happening now at WichitaRiverfest2020.eventbrite.com. The buttons will be available for in-person purchasing at the early-bird price from April 10 to May 2 at Meineke Car Care Centers. Starting May 3, the button price will go up to $10 and they’ll be available at area QuikTrip stores. Buttons for ages 6-12 are $5, and children ages 5 and younger will be admitted for free.
The staff also revealed a few new events planned for this year’s festival, including an Equipment Rodeo, which will be a sort of construction worker face-off, an Admiral’s Cup competition that will feature teams of coworkers and friends competing in various events, a DJ Battle, a multicultural dance exhibition and a Christian rock concert.
The festival’s concert lineup will be released on Facebook on Feb. 19.
