Psychedelic soul, folk rock, roots rock concerts this weekend
Monophonics playing Riverfest afterparty at Barleycorns
Monophonics, a psychedelic soul band from San Francisco who just played at the Wichita Riverfest on Thursday, are hanging around town for a Friday-night concert at the just remodeled and reopened Barleycorn’s, 608 E. Douglas. The lineup also includes several other bands scheduled for the Riverfest stage, including Souveneers and Carrie Nation & the Speakeasy and Big Red Horse. The event is being billed as an official Riverfest afterparty, and admission is $20 with a Riverfest button or $30 without.
Lucinda Williams in Salina
Folk rock singer Lucinda Williams, a Grammy winner and author of the song “Passionate Kisses,” will perform on Sunday at Stiefel Theatre, 151 S. Santa Fe in Salina. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35, $45 and $55 at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 785-827-1998.
Thieving Birds
Fort Worth band Thieving Birds, known for its rock, country and roots sound, will perform Saturday at Joe’s Bandstand, the music venue at 218 N. Washington. The show starts at 9 p.m. and admission is $10. It’s for ages 21 and older.
