Honey Bee Festival at Great Plains Nature Center
Learning about pollination has never been more delicious. Enjoy a day of music, theater and sweet treats from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Great Plains Nature Center, 6232 E. 29th St. North. Events include honey-tasting, kids crafts and games, music from the Stagehands, and performances by Shakespeare in the Park actors. Admission is free. Go to www.gpnc.org for more information.
Yakov Smirnoff at Fox Theater
Comedian and actor Yakov Smirnoff shares his philosophy on life and relationships in his new show, “The Happily Ever Laughter Tour,” which stops in Hutchinson on Saturday. The Big Read party
The Big Read this year celebrates “The Maltese Falcon” by Dashiell Hammett. Channel your inner detective from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Wichita Art Museum, 1400 W. Museum Blvd. The preparty will feature book giveaways, jazz music, reader’s theater and more. Admission is free. Big Read discussions and events go through Nov. 15.
