Country, rap and indie in Wichita arenas, bars and venues
Gary Allan at Hartman Arena
Country star Gary Allan will perform Friday at Hartman Arena, 8151 N. Hartman Arena Drive in Park City. Allan has several top-10 hits to his name, including “Her Man,” It Would Be You,” “Right Where I Need to Be,” “The One,” “Best I Ever Had” and “Watching Airplanes.” His latest hit is “Hangover Tonight,” a song from his soon-to-be-released 10th studio album. Tickets to his show, which starts at 7 p.m., are $26, $56 and $76. Chris Stapleton and Chris Janson are the opening acts. Southwest Kings of rap at Abode Venue
Rap artist Rittz, also known as Jonathan McCollum, headlines the Southwest Kings Tour, which stops at Abode Venue, 1330 E. Douglas, on Wednesday. Rittz, who hails from Waynesburg, Pa., was discovered and put on the map by fellow rapper Yelawolf in 2009. The show, which starts at 7 p.m., will feature other rap acts as well: Crooked I, Horsehoe Gang, J Hornay, Buckhead and Antimosity. Tickets are $20 in advance at www.eventbrite.com. The show is open to ages 18 and older.
Two big bar shows
Two bar shows will land in Old Town venues this weekend. Country act Shane Smith and The Saints will perform at 9 p.m. Friday at Joe’s Bandstand, 218 N. Washington. Admission is $10 at the door. Also, New York City-based indie alt/grunge rock band Vinyette will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at the Pumphouse, 825 E. Second St. Admission is free until 9 p.m. for men and 11 p.m. for women. Then, it’s $5.
