Symphony fundraiser, Filipino fun, board game bonding

Symphony al Fresco

Symphony al Fresco, an annual fundraiser for the Wichita Symphony Orchestra education and family programs, happens at 5:30 p.m Saturday at Prairie Pines, 4055 N. Tyler Road. Attendees will be entertained by musical ensembles made up of symphony members stationed around the venue. They’ll also get hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants plus wine, beer and dessert. The event also includes silent and live auctions, and people are encouraged to wear casual attire. Tickets are $100 for adults and $25 for children and are available by calling 316-267-7658. Filipino Festival

A new Filipino Festival, a celebration of Filipino culture, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Shaffer Farms, 8915 E. 31st St. South. Admission is free, and visitors can take part in arts and crafts, purchase Filipino food included roasted pig, and watch a parade with Miss Philippines contestants. Performers also will demonstrate cultural dances and Filipino street games. The afternoon will conclude from 4 to 6 p.m. with karaoke and dancing. The event is being put on by a group called Filipinos of Greater Wichita.

Mega board games

The fourth annual Family Board Game Mega Event, put on by the people who organize the regular Bonding through Board Games meet-ups, happens from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Sedgwick County extension, 7001 W. 21st St. It’s a come-and-go event for all ages, and admission is free. Various games will be set up and volunteers will be nearby to teach people how to play. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/bondingthruboardgames.
