5 unique ways to get a yoga workout in Wichita this weekend

Summer may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to throw the towel in on that ever-evasive summer bod.

Area yoga studios know this, so they’re hosting yoga classes this weekend that combine summertime fun with a unique yoga workout.

Here are five chances for you to get a workout in while soaking up the sun, tossing back a mimosa or enjoying a baseball game:

Paddle board yoga at O.J. Watson Park, 3022 S McLean Blvd.

Cinister Fitness, SUPWichita and the Wichita Park and Recreation Department teamed up to offer an outdoor cardio and yoga workout class from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday. The class will include a 45-minute cardio and endurance Tabata-style workout and a paddle board yoga class on the park’s lake. Boards will be provided. The class is $20 and registration is available at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080e45abad2ba0f49-hiit.

Paddle board yoga at Santa Fe Lake, 11367 S.W. Shore Drive, Augusta

Hot Asana Yoga Studio will host two paddle board yoga classes at 4 and 5 p.m. Saturday. Boards will be provided and yogis attending are asked to show up 15 minutes early for parking and board check-out before hitting the water. The class is $25 and tickets can be purchased at http://www.hotasanayogastudio.com/store/.

Lululemon complimentary yoga, 1423 N. Webb Road

There will be a free yoga class from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday hosted by lululemon and Hot Asana Yoga Studio. In all honesty, the class isn’t combining yoga with a strictly summer activity. However, it will offer a chance to shop around at the lululemon store for summer clothes sales afterward, which I felt earned it a spot on the list. The all-levels class will be outside, weather permitting, and mats will be available.

Yoga in the Park, 300 S. Sycamore Street

The Wingnuts take the field at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, and Limitless Yoga Studio will takeover Lawrence Dumont after the game for a class on the diamond. The event is for 16 and older and yogis need to bring their own mat. Tickets are $10 with promo code YOGA at http://www.selectaseat.com. Any tickets purchased prior to the game are entered to win a lululemon giftcard for any item in the store.

Yoga & Mimosas, 235 N. Mosley Street

XY Bar is throwing it’s own “Sunday Funday” with yoga, games, dancing and mimosas. Hot Asana Yoga Studio will host a 45-minute class starting at 2 p.m. Sunday at XY, followed by games and dancing. The class is $15 and includes one mimosa. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.hotasanayogastudio.com/store/.
