If you are not headed to New York for the Broadway play “Hamilton” anytime soon, this may be your next best bet in learning more about Alexander Hamilton.

The Museum of World Treasures in Old Town is presenting two events this week focusing on Hamilton as a statesman and founding father of the United States.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday at the museum, 835 E. First St., Lon Smith will give a presentation on Hamilton – the psychology and motivations behind him as well as key personal and public events.

“We decided to do a piece on Hamilton because of the popularity of the musical and since everyone is recognizing the importance of Hamilton to the founding of the nation,” said Smith, chief development officer.

THe Coffee with the Curator is $4 for nonmembers and free for members of the museum.

Then, on Friday – from 6 to 10 p.m., the museum is hosting “Alexander Hamilton Lives” – a banquet event that takes the audience back to a 1787 pub in Philadelphia during the Constitutional Convention with period food, music, dance and drinks.

Harold Wilford “Hal” Bidlack, a retired Air Force officer and national security aide will make a presentation on Hamilton in character. Bidlack, Smith said, is one of the nation’s foremost Hamilton presenters and will offer a historic treatment of a speech given by the statesman.

To purchase tickets, go to www.worldtreasures.org or call the museum at 316-263-1311.
