Happy 88th birthday, Mickey Mouse!

Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, an American cartoonist, created Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney Studios in 1928.

If only we could all visit Disney World or Dinsneyland today and sing Happy Birthday to Mickey at several parades the resorts have planned and wear commemorative “Happy Birthday, Mickey!” buttons. All of that is true and happening today.

The Shanghai Disney Resort will celebrate Mickey’s birthday with a special Grand-Marshal pre-parade. And the Hong Kong Disneyland will give away commemorative birthday stickers and pins with the chance to share a “magical moment” with Mickey.

Potentially the greatest of all is the Disneyland Paris celebration, which “will host not one, not two, but three full days of celebration and surprises for this special event.”

Disney will also release a Mickey music video Friday called “What We Got,” which highlights Mickey’s trip around the world.

As Walt Disney famously said, “I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.”
