Dean Hargrove, an Emmy Award-winning producer, is returning to his alma mater – Wichita State University – this week to present his latest documentary.

Hargrove, who won WSU’s President’s Medal in 1996, is perhaps best known for producing TV series such as “Columbo,” “Matlock,” “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” and the “Perry Mason” movies.

His latest project is “Tap World,” an acclaimed 2015 documentary that explores how American tap dance grew into international popularity.

He will present the documentary in a free screening at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the CAC Theater on the WSU Campus, 1845 Fairmount.

The 78-year-old Hargrove is originally from Iola.

“I’ve always carried fond memories of WSU with me,” Hargrove said in a news release. “It gave me great opportunities that I probably wouldn’t have had in other places. My fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, and the university as a whole were very supportive of me.”
