  • Kansas Legislative Coordinating Council will debate a Chiefs stadium proposal.
  • Fans flooded X and Reddit with passionate comments over a possible Arrowhead move.
  • Reactions split: some welcome modern facilities while many mourn Arrowhead’s legacy.

Most Chiefs fans will be paying close attention to a government meeting on Monday.

The Kansas Legislative Coordinating Council is convening, and the topic is expected to be about the state’s STAR bonds and an effort to build a stadium for the Chiefs, the Star’s Kacen Bayless and Sam McDowell reported. Specifically, lawmakers will discuss a proposal with the Chiefs.

Soren Petro of WHB (810 AM) was the first to report on the meeting and believes a deal between the Chiefs and the state is done unless there is a “screw-up by someone at the top.”

That set off a wave of passionate reactions on social media about the Chiefs possibly leaving GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. But not everyone was against a move. Here is just some of what was being said on X and Reddit.

“The two states poaching each others businesses isn’t good for anyone other than the owners who get the tax breaks to move across an imaginary line,” a fan wrote on Reddit. “Goodbye to the best home field advantage in the NFL, the wine and cheese crowd isn’t what makes Arrowhead great.”

Another wrote on Reddit: “I’m sure I can still afford tickets, but I’ll enjoy not even thinking about going to games anymore. Saves me hours of waiting in parking lot traffic, money, and I get the best seat in the house”

“The Arrowhead Stadium renovations proposal was an insult to every blue collar fan,” wrote a fan on X. “Now the idea of leaving the greatest arena in the world for some cookie cutter ... stadium of the future is so insulting. I’m ashamed.”

A fan on Reddit wrote: “(T)hey should have just put up a retractable roof for the 3-5 sundays a year it’s cold. i actually wanted a new stadium but now that’s its happening it really will be just like every other stadium. i don’t go as much as i used to because of the cold and kids and getting older but wow.”

Another shared this: “I will forever be the biggest Chiefs fan and will always support this team. But Arrowhead is my personal heaven on earth. The vast parking lot with smoke rising everywhere, the open Midwest sky, the roar of Chiefs Kingdom echoing through the bowl. It’s a place where generations of Chiefs fans have passed traditions down, a shared home that means more than just football. My dad did that with me.

“I’m going to savor every second I have left there while I still can.”
