These are the jersey numbers for Chiefs’ 2025 draft class — and two free agents
Chiefs fans think the team missed a golden marketing opportunity.
The X account NFL Jersey Numbers said numbers have been assigned to at least four players who were selected last week by the Chiefs in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Chiefs gave No. 11 to rookie wide receiver Jalen Royals. Fans thought a Royals Chiefs jersey would look better with No. 85. That’s the year the Royals (the baseball team) won their first World Series championship.
Alas, it wasn’t meant to be as tight ends Robert Tonyan and Anthony Firkser both have that jersey number right now. And that’s not the only number currently being shared by multiple Chiefs players.
Edge rusher Ashton Gillotte, who was selected in the third round, will wear No. 97, which has been the jersey number of Felix Anudike-Uzomah. But with Derrick Nnadi leaving as a free agent, No. 91 is available and that is what Anudike-Uzomah wore at Kansas State (more on that below).
Here are the numbers given to Chiefs rookies.
71: OT Josh SImmons
11: WR Jalen Royals
20: CB Nohl Williams
55: DL Omarr Norman-Lott
97: Edge Ashton Gillotte
31: LB Jeffrey Bassa
30: RB Brashard Smith
The Chiefs’ rookie minicamp begins on Saturday and will run through Monday.
Veteran numbers
With Mecole Hardman’s departure, the No. 17 jersey was available to backup quarterback Gardner Minshew, who signed earlier this year.
And new cornerback Kristian Fulton chose No. 8.
Anudike-Uzomah is indeed changing to his old No. 91.
