Sometimes the winner doesn't always receive a trophy or ribbon.

That was the case with Sam Silverstein, a middle-school hurdler who helped her opponent to her feet before crossing the finish line.

Silverstein, of the Church of Magdalen middle school, was in second place behind Lauren Robinson, of Blessed Sacrement, with one hurdle to go at a meet at Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita. Both runners hit the final hurdle and fell to the track.

Silverstein got to her feet first and had a chance to cross the line and win, but she stopped and reached her hand out to Robinson. They finished the race together at the back of the pack.

A video of the race drew more than 10,000 views and 100 shares on Facebook.
