The 100th Kansas high school track and field championships

In celebration of the 100th state track meet May 28-29 at Cessna Stadium, high school track coaches across Kansas were asked for their lists of top 10 meet moments. The Eagle will present them each Sunday through the meet's conclusion.

6. Jackie stiles sweeps four races (1996)

A junior known more for her basketball exploits, Stiles pulled off the rare feat of winning the 3200 meters, 1600, 400 and 800 on the same day in Class 1A. She shadowed the leaders in the longer races, sprinted from the start to win the 400, then got a standing ovation as she broke the meet record with a 2:17.46 in the 800.

"I wanted to go out and see how much I had left," Stiles said that day. "I thought I would drop back, but with the crowd and everything, the adrenaline was really going."
