Three keys to the season

1. Wehrman, in his first year, comes from a successful background at Derby. He says his linemen will need to develop more toughness on both sides of the ball. Having someone the size of Gleeson should be a good start toward opening holes on running plays and protecting the passer.

2. Running the ball will be a priority. Wehrman said using the run will take pressure of Cheney’s passing game. Howell will have a big workload. Quarterback Grover rushed 54 times for 154 yards and five touchdowns last season.

3. Scheer was the leading receiver and leading scorer for Cheney last year with 10 touchdown receptions and five two-point conversions. He caught 41 passes for 646 yards.
