HAYS — Meade used a dominating running attack to claim the Class 2-1A football title over Pittsburg Colgan 20-14.
The Buffaloes won their third title and first since 1980.
Meade ran 48 plays for 223 yards in the first half to seven plays and 78 yards for perennial power Colgan.
Quarterback Kellan Hernandez led Meade with 151 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Playing in its ninth title game in 12 seasons, Colgan (12-1) took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter when Winston Slavins recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. Meade (12-1) responded with a 13-play, 80-yard drive that ended with a 17-yard touchdown by Jaden Friesen.
The Buffs scored again just before halftime, then went on a 20-play, 76-yard touchdown drive in the second half that ate 10:34 off the clock.
