Louisburg rallies for 4A championship

SALINA — Louisburg overcame a 10-point first quarter deficit against Holton to claim the Class 4A football title 24-16.

Quarterback Kody Cook threw two touchdown passes and returned an interception for a third Saturday to lead Louisburg (14-0) to its first state championship.

Garrett Griffin led Louisburg with 154 yards rushing and three receptions for 58 yards.

Holton went into halftime with a 10-7 lead. Louisburg tied the game with a field goal in the third quarter and took the lead in the fourth with a 43-yard pass from Cook to Griffin.

Louisburg scored again 74 seconds later when Cook ran an interception back 54 yards to give his team a 24-10 lead.

Brentt Donaldson led Holton (11-3) with 98 yards rushing and Drake Lovvorn ran for 89.
