Wichita Heights' Perry Ellis officially a Jayhawk

The Kansas basketball program received some positive news when the signed letter of intent from Wichita Heights forward Perry Ellis scrolled into the fax machine in Lawrence.

Ellis, a five-star recruit by Rivals.com who committed to KU in September, is KU's first signing for the 2012 class. He chose Kansas over Kentucky, Kansas State and Wichita State, among others.

Prestonwood Christian (Texas) power forward Zach Peters is expected to sign a letter of intent with Kansas later during signing week.

Peters, a three-star recruit who committed to Kansas at the end of his sophomore year, originally had scholarship offers from Kentucky, North Carolina and Kansas.
