Thursday's Quarterfinals

3 P.M.

No. 8 Victoria (12-11) —The Knights won three sub-state games by a combined eight points. Victoria was 7-10 before winning five of its last six games. The Knights have balanced scoring, with Kam Dinkel (11.6) the only double-digit scorer.

No. 1 Hanover (22-1) —Three players average double figures, with Reid Blackburn (14.4) leading the way. Connor Hynek averages 12 points, 8 rebounds. The Wildcats defeated sub-state host Baileyville 65-61 in the finals.


No. 5 South Haven (21-2) —Cardinals have won 10 straight since a Jan. 28 loss to Sedan. Defense has allowed more than 50 points twice this season. Jarod Yound (12.1) and Austin Showman (10.1) are the leading scorers.

No. 4 Pretty Prairie (21-2) —Seven seniors played on last season's state qualifier. Hunter Pittman (15.6) and Tanner Hines (10.3) are leading scorers, though five other players have led in a game. With four players 6-4 or taller, the Bulldogs have a significant rebounding advantage, averaging nearly nine more than opponents.


No. 7 Olpe (17-6) —Opponents shot 34 percent; the Eagles are going to need defense like that against Macksville. The offense scored 60 points once. Senior post Austin Bass averages 12 points and 10 rebounds.

No. 2 Macksville (22-1) —Four opponents got within 10 of Macksville, C Kyle Bunker (6-5) averages nearly 20 points, and Adam Oak and Taylor Tranbarger have combined for 46 threes.


No. 6 Lebo (19-4) —The Wolves depend on getting to the basket, shooting 50 percent inside the arc, 28 percent outside (16 threes all season). PG Trevor White averages 18 points and the Wolves have won six straight.

No. 3 South Gray (22-1) —With depth, the Rebels use pressure defense to wear out opponents. South Gray was 18-0 before losing to Ashland 60-42. Garrison Hendricks (13 points) and Austin Love (10) are leading scorers.
