    Girls tournaments

    MCPHERSON

    Goddard 61, Buhler 38 (FINAL) --With 5:22 to go in the first, Goddard leads Buhler 10-2 in the first round of the McPherson invite. Time Buhler, 4:51 to go in the first half. Goddard is up 30-14 and is forcing turnover after turnover. Goddard defeats Buhler 61-38 in the first-round game of the McPherson invitational.

    McPherson 61, Hays 26 (FINAL) --McPherson leads Hays 47-21 after three. McPherson defeats Buhler 61-26 to advance to the semifinals on Friday.

    Olathe South 65, Valley Center 32 (FINAL) --Olathe South, the Class 6A defending champion, missed its first three shots, while Valley Center made its first three, including a three by Beth McCormick. Three minutes into the game, the Hornets led 9-4. It didn’t last long, as Olathe South made six straight shots, including five three-pointers _ two by Natalie Knight and three by Vickie Dolan _ for the 23-11 lead. Valley Center was led by Morgan Wedekind’s 11 points and Madison Wedekind’s 10. Meagan Williams had nine rebounds, while Elayna Coleman had seven.Knight finished with a game-high 21 points and seven steals, while Dolan had 13 points.

    Beloit 47, Andale 42 (FINAL) --

    LAWRENCE FREE STATE

    Wichita Northwest 49, Leavenworth 33 (FINAL)-- — Northwest’s T. Nolen held Leavenworth’s Charmaine Burns to just one point in the second half as the Grizzlies opened with a win in Lawrence. Burns scored 16 points in the first half, including three three-pointers in the first quarter. Alaina Shine led Northwest with 12 points and nine rebounds.The Grizzlies also got 10 points each from Brianna Caldwell and Cassidy Harbert.

    Blue Valley 36, Bishop Carroll 30 (FINAL) -- Blue Valley scored the game’s first nine points, and Carroll trailed by 14 at halftime.The Eagles battled back, and Kathryn Mies scored five in a row in the fourth quarter to get Carroll within 34-30 with just more than three minutes to play, but Carroll didn’t score again. Sarah Balderas led Carroll with 11 points.

    NEWTON

    Olathe Northwest 59, Kapaun Mount Carmel 48 (FINAL) -- In today's Newton Invitational, Kapaun's girls lost the opening game to Olathe Northwest 59-48.

    Garden City 48, Rose Hill 46 (FINAL) --Rose Hill leads Garden City 25-17 at halftime. Garden City upsets Rose Hill 48-46 in the opening round of the Newton Invitational girls tournament.

    MULVANE

    Wellington 31, Wichita Southeast 30 (E3) --Wellington has a 19-18 lead over Southeast after the first half.

    Clearwater 42, Mulvane 38 (FINAL) --Clearwater is on a roll. It beat Mulvane 42-38 to advance to the championship game. It entered the tourney with only two wins.

    Garden Plain 37, Maize South 23 (FINAL) --Garden Plain beats Maize South 37-23 at the Mulvane Tournament

    Wichita Heights 91, Chaparral 11 (FINAL) --Heights 32 Chaparral 2 end of 1st in Pratt TOC
