Heights loses in Fort Smith tourney

Heights’ girls were held to five first-quarter points in a 58-46 loss to St. Louis Incarnate Word on Friday night in the semifinals of the Fort Smith (Ark.) Tournament of Champions.Kamisha Richard had 14 points and Jhasmin Bowen had 11 for the Falcons, who trailed by seven points at halftime.

South 48, East 41 — The South girls overcame an 11-point deficit early in the third quarter.

South outscored East 31-14 in the second half, led by Jessa Molina’s game-high 17 points.

South went on a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter and took its first lead since the opening basket with 4:30 left.

The Titans made 8 of 10 free throws in the final two minutes to hold on.
