ANDOVER — Andover Central senior guard Tiffany Bias is the caliber of player that won't surprise anyone with her ability to score.
Friday night she proved as much, scoring 34 points in her team's 65-41 victory over Collegiate, but that wasn't even the most impressive part of her game.
Bias, listed at 5-foot-6, was asked to guard Collegiate's do-everything forward, Ashia Woods, who has a five-inch advantage. Woods finished with 19 points, but was relegated to a side note in as the Jaguars' put on an offensive show.
"Tiffany Bias is such a competitor," Central coach Stana Jefferson said. "She's just a great defender. She knows where to be ... so why wouldn't you put her on (Woods)?"

Central set the pace early and Collegiate simply could not keep up. A 6-5 Collegiate lead was quickly swallowed up by a 15-2 Central run to end the first quarter. At half, the Jaguars led 39-21.
"That was fun," Central's Kaitlin Tennyson said of the tempo. "We like to run people. That's our favorite thing."
Tennyson played the sidekick to Bias, scoring 14 points, mostly off isolation plays while the defense was concerned with Bias.
"It's good when your whole team can score and go to the hole and not be afraid to take it," Bias said.
Bias drilled five three-pointers and added six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Not to mention her defensive performance against Woods.
"I was surprised, but then again, I wasn't," Collegiate coach Terrence Phox said of the matchup. "Because you know what, Tiffany's going to be guarding people like that at Oklahoma State and she can do it."
Bias has made an oral commitment to play at Oklahoma State.
The closest Collegiate would come in the second half would be 14 points. The Spartans finished the game shooting 38 percent (18 of 47) with 18 turnovers.
"We run a motion offense and early on in the season a motion offense is not going to be very good because we don't have a pattern," Phox said. "But if we're going to be the best team in 3A, then we're going to have be able to play."
