Make it three straight City League titles for the East boys swim team.

And with youth leading the way, the Blue Aces may only get better.

"In the past we've started with some kids with some experience and some talent and by the end of their senior year they drop a lot of time, this group especially," East coach Joe Hutchinson said. "It's not just this season, it's next season and the year after. They're going to end up pretty good."

East rolled to the title with 353 points at the Northwest pool. Bishop Carroll was second with 218 points and Kapaun picked up third with 202.

East's domination started in the afternoon. One of the few upperclassmen, senior Jake Seamster-Davis, won the 1-meter diving with 448.70 points, 3.5 points off the City League record that has stood since 1972.

"He just did great," Hutchinson said of Seamster-Davis. "He really set a nice tone for us."

When the racing began in the evening, East kept control by winning the 200-yard medley relay with Brandon Shinsato, Jake Spitz, Nate Pirner and Andrew Sousa in 1:41.79.

"A lot of people said it was going to be a race for second," Spitz said. "I know that kind of sounds cocky but we've got the most talent and the most depth in the entire league."

A state placer a year ago as a freshman, Spitz won individual crowns in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly. He was also a part of the winning 400 freestyle relay that was the final event.

"I was pretty happy with it," Spitz said of his individual finishes.

"That was the closest I've ever been to my best 200 IM time. It will be there when state rolls around."

North's Logan Lassley won two individual titles in the 50 and 100 freestyles. Heights' Kyle Cullinan held ofd East's Charlie King in both the 200 and 500 freestyles for a pair of titles.
