Dakota Clift pitched a two-hitter to help Bluestem defeat Oxford 8-1 in the Class 2-1A baseball quarterfinals in Great Bend on Thursday.
Bluestem gave Clift all the runs he needed with a two-run first inning. Oxford scored once in the third inning, but Bluestem its 4-1 lead to advance.
Oxford entered the tournament with a 20-1 record. Bluestem (16-4) will face Troy (18-0) in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Friday.

Class 4A-II: Rock Creek 5, Clearwater 4 — Rock Creek pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to edge Clearwater in a 4A-II quarterfinal game in Emporia.
Clearwater finishes with a 5-18 record while Rock Creek (20-0) will play Baxter Springs (17-4) in the semifinals on Friday.
Clearwater had advanced to the state tournament with two regional upsets. The Indians first defeated top-seeded Burlington (14-5) by a 9-3 score, then reached state by beating second-seeded Trinity Academy 8-6 in the regional final at Collegiate.
