Bishop Carroll scored the first three goals of Saturday’s Class 5A boys soccer third-place match and defeated City League rival Kapaun Mount Carmel 3-1.
Carroll (16-2-3) scored twice before halftime and added a goal off a corner kick in the second half.
Kapaun’s goal with 20 minutes to play came from Thomas Wells, who had three in Friday’s semifinal loss and ended his senior season with 50, a state record.
St. James Academy beat Blue Valley Southwest 3-1 for the 5A championship.
Class 4-1A — Andover Central beat Louisburg 2-0 to finish third in Class 4-1A. The Jaguars (11-7-3) reached the state semifinals for the first time in the school’s history.
Miege (18-2-1) defeated Basehor-Linwood 1-0 in overtime to win the 4-1A championship.
Class 6A — Dodge City ended its season 21-0 by beating Olathe East 1-0 in the championship game at Wichita’s Carpenter Stadium. Washburn Rural beat Shawnee Mission East 4-3 in the third-place match.
