Nate Pauly rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns to lead Garden Plain to a 46-20 victory over Cheney and a berth in the Class 3A playoffs.
Garden Plain finished second in Class 3A-District 10. The Owls, Conway Springs and Chaparral each finished 2-1 in the district, but Chaparral and Garden Plain had better point differentials than Conway, which came into Thursday’s game as the only unbeaten in the district.
Pauly averaged 10.3 yards on his 16 carries, and teammate Marty Landwehr ran 11 times for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Collegiate 49, Trinity Academy 20 — Cody McNerney completed 12 of 14 passes for 236 yards and five touchdowns as Collegiate went unbeaten in its Class 4A-II district. Jed Hourani caught six passes for 105 yards with three touchdowns. Collegiate will play host to the loser of Friday’s Clay Center-Smoky Valley game in next week’s first round. Sam Hardin rushed for 140 yards for Trinity, while Collegiate’s Juston Flowers had 21 tries for 108 yards.
CENTRAL KANSAS LEAGUE
Nickerson 46, Clearwater 21 — Peyton Kuhns ran 20 times for 141 yards and three touchdowns as Nickerson won at home to seal second place in District 5 of 4A-II.
