Thursday’s quarterfinals

3 p.m.: Hill City vs. Sedan

No. 8 Hill City (17-6) – The Ringnecks are led by junior Claiborne Kyles (18.8 points, 10.4 rebounds). Kyles racked up 12 double-doubles and has been the key to the state berth.

No. 1 Sedan (23-0) – The top-seeded Blue Devils have turned their program around in the past two years after winning just seven games in 2013-14. Sedan has three players averaging double figures.

4:45: Jackson Heights vs. Berean Academy

No. 5 Jackson Heights (21-2) – The Cobras are making their second straight trip to Manhattan. Jackson Heights has shot better than 45 percent from the field in 12 games.

No. 4 Berean Academy (22-1) – The Warriors have a solid 1-2 punch in seniors David Ladwig (15 points, 5 assists) and Braden Wiebe (11 points, 4 rebounds). The Warriors are in the state tournament after losing in the sub-state championship the past two seasons to St. John.
