Andale is third in Class 4A wrestling team scores through Friday’s semifinals, with its 65 points trailing Colby (100) and Pratt (67). El Dorado is fourth with 62 and Clearwater is tied for seventh with 43.
Andale has three finalists on Saturday at Salina’s Bicentennial Center. Zach Eck, a junior, improved to 32-7 with three wins at 132 pounds and will face Basehor-Linwood junior Corbin Nirschl in the final.
Andale junior Davon Spexarth (39-7) defeated Andover Central’s Grant Schoonover with a second-period pin to advance to face Clearwater’s Curtis Rylant (40-1) in the 182-pound final. At 195 pounds, the Indians’ Anthony Capul (45-2) won with a first-period pin in his 195-pound semifinal to reach the final. He’ll face Paola’s Dunkan Watrous (28-1), who won two ultimate tie-breakers en route to the final.
Defending champion Anthony Scantlin of Mulvane (37-4) reached the 145-pound final with three wins, including a 6-3 decision over another defending champ, Jon Trowbridge of Basehor-Linwood. Scantlin will face Holton’s Justin Rieschick in the championship.
An all Wichita-area final in 106 pounds looms with El Dorado’s Payton Sadowski facing Clearwater’s Darryl Rylant. Rylant breezed through three matches Friday while Sadowski won a 4-3 semifinal over Jake Patch of Andover Central.
At 220, sophomore Cameron Hunt of El Dorado reached the final and will meet Colby senior Austin Hart, the division’s defending champ.
Class 3A – Douglass sophomore Ashten Dodson won two matches by technical fall and the other by pin to reach the 106-pound final. He’ll face Riley County’s Luke Richard.
