Basketball roundup: Ast’s 25 points help Andale claim division title

Jeffery Ast scored 25 points to lead Andale over Mulvane 75-32 and clinch a share of the AV-CTL Division IV title on Thursday night.

Zach Meyer and Clint Walstad had 10 points each for Andale (17-3, 9-1), which can be tied for the crown by Collegiate on Friday.

Jayden Price had 14 points for Mulvane (2-18, 0-10).

Other boys

Heights 50, Carroll 45 – City League-champion Heights (18-2, 14-2) held off Carroll with 12 points from Devin Davis. Eric Scharping had 21 points to lead Carroll (10-10, 8-8).

East 66, North 45 – The visiting Aces (14-6, 12-4 CL) wrapped up third in the City League with 17 points from Xavier Kelly and 11 from Mark Hartley. Tiylar Cotton (15 points) led North (5-15, 4-12).

South 68, Northwest 66 – The visiting Titans (11-9, 8-8 CL) rebounded from a four-point third quarter to beat Northwest (5-15, 4-12 CL). Dawson Gunter led South with 18 points and Michael Duncan has 24 to lead Northwest.

Kapaun 72, West 40 – Brock Monty scored 19 points and Chris Meitzner had 12 points as Kapaun (12-8, 8-8 CL) built a 30-point halftime lead. Nathan Saunders led West (4-16, 2-14) with 11 points.

Maize South 82, Valley Center 61 – Payten Ricks had 18 points and Tristan Knoblauch and Nolan Veenis each had 17 points for visiting Maize South (10-10, 5-7 AV-CTL II). Tyler Brown led Valley Center (8-12, 3-9) with 20 points.

Augusta 65, Rose Hill 58 – Jonny Clausing had 21 points, Chance Whitehead 16 and Logan Weakley 14 for host Augusta (10-10, 6-4 AV-CTL III). Parker Austin had 17 to lead Rose Hill (6-14, 4-6).

Clearwater 54, Wellington 51 – Jaylon Headley scored 14 points to lead Clearwater (10-10, 4-6 AV-CTL IV). AJ Snipes had 15 to points to lead Wellington (10-10, 4-6).

Girls

Carroll 49, Heights 37 – Visiting Carroll (16-4, 14-2) wrapped up second place in the City League with 13 points from Abby Sauber. Athena Alvarado (24 points) led third-place Heights (14-6, 12-4).

East 43, North 39 – East’s nine overtime points were good for a victory. Marissa Evans had 18 points to lead North.

South 54, Northwest 25 – The three-time defending 6A champion completed a 20-0 regular season. Trezure Jobe and Kendrian Elliott had 13 points each for the Titans.

Kapaun 53, West 27 – Brenna Monty scored 20 points as Kapaun reached .500 for the regular season. Semaj Muldrow (16) and Alicia Ross (11) scored all of West’s points.

Andover Central 56, Arkansas City 44 – Andover Central (14-6, 11-1) got 17 points from Amanda Kakoulias to clinch the AV-CTL II outright title. Kaitlyn Potter scored 16 points for Ark City (10-10, 4-8).

Valley Center 61, Maize South 35 – Taylor Latimer scored 19 points and Kylie Webber had 16 for Valley Center (14-6, 8-4 AV-CTL II).

Andale 52, Mulvane 19 – Tyler Winter’s 11 points led 10 Andale players who scored. Mulvane was held to 12 points over the final three quarters.

Rose Hill 64, Augusta 45 – Rose Hill (12-8, 8-2 AV-CTL III) took a 30-9 halftime lead and got 18 points from Anna Van Driel. Jayden Marlnee had 14 for Augusta (8-12, 3-7).

Wellington 70, Clearwater 27 – Visiting Wellington completed an unbeaten regular season with 23 points from Grace Mitchell. Alli Klausmeyer had 14 points for Clearwater (6-14, 2-8 AV-CTL IV).
