All-State player Samajae Jones of East and All-Metro player James Conley of Derby have signed with Hutchinson Community College to play basketball.
Jones, a 5-foot-11 guard who was also an All-Metro selection, helped lead East to the Class 6A title. He averaged 16.1 points as East went 24-1. Jones scored 36 points in East’s sub-state championship win.
Conley, a 6-2 guard who was second team All-State, led Derby to an 18-5 record and a berth in the 6A tournament. He averaged 18.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, three assists and shot 48.5 percent from the field. He scored 993 career points, which is fourth in Derby history.
