Hunter Hall rushed for 117 yards and Collin Ellis had 104 as Clearwater beat visiting Trinity Academy 24-21 on Friday night, keeping the Knights out of the Class 4A-Division I playoffs in a winner-take-all showdown.
Clearwater is the second playoff entrant out of District 5, behind unbeaten Andale. Trinity ended its season 6-3.
Tyler Burns rushed 22 times for 170 yards for Trinity, scoring once on the ground and catching another touchdown pass.
Andale 69, Haven 13 – Tim Hendrixson scored a 78-yard touchdown run to give Haven a 7-0 lead, but Andale responded with 61 unanswered points. Andale (9-0) rolls into the playoffs and will play host to Smoky Valley (5-4) in next Friday’s first round. Hank Eck rushed 17 times for 209 yards and five touchdowns to lead Andale.
Augusta 47, Independence 13 – Visiting Augusta scored 40 first-half points to beat Augusta and roll into the playoffs. Dustyn McEachern got it started with a 54-yard run, then found Connor Hurst with a 71-yard pass play for a 14-0 lead.
