The Wellington Crusaders’ 4-0 start has been set in motion by their offensive and defensive lines, which are anchored by Skylar Brand and Jason Norris.
“They’ve allowed us to play pretty well,” coach Tyler Ryan said. “Defensively the front four guys are probably the best front four we’ve had in my three years. They’ve done a great job. That has a trickle effect to the rest of the defense.
“The offensive side up front, I think we’ve been better. (Quarterback) Trevor Nance and (wide receiver) Colin Reichenberger and others are able to make plays because the line has held.”
Ryan, who coaches the offensive line, credits his focus on linemen to his time as an assistant at Holton.

“I learned, when I got my feet wet coaching with coach (Brooks) Barta at Holton how important it is up front, and I’ve tried to carry that on,” Ryan said.
