The Augusta girls basketball team didn’t score in the first quarter Tuesday night at El Dorado, but its defense made up for it in the second half.
Trailing by six at halftime, Augusta allowed only six second-half points to beat El Dorado 35-23 in a non-league game.
No Augusta player had more than six points. Destiny Smith led El Dorado with eight.

Carroll 38, Heights 33 — Carroll took control of a tie game entering the fourth quarter behind 13 points from Shelby Lopez and 10 from Jordyn Miller. Kiersten Parks had nine to lead Heights.
Kapaun 59, East 19 — Sydney Kuhn and Sam Bachrodt had 13 points and Grace Hagan added 11 for Kapaun. Astrid Same had eight for East, which was held to seven first-half points.
Northwest 50, North 30 — Cassie Pauls had 13 points as the Grizzlies routed North. Aliyah Bernard and Kayla McFaul had nine points each for North.
South 66, Southeast 15 — Ericka Mattingly had 20 points and led three South players in double figures. Kendrian Elliott added 13 points and Kirea Rogers had 10.
Eisenhower 58, Campus 46 — The host Tigers built a 12-point halftime lead and held it in the second half. Kilah Hoenscheidt had 19 points and Brynn Minor 16 for Eisenhower. Tabitha Wheeler had 12 for Campus.
McPherson 47, Circle 33 — Abby Pedersen had 15 points and McPherson turned it on early to beat Circle in a non-division game.
Rose Hill 48, Collegiate 32 — Freshman Mackenzie Herman scored 10 points to lead the Rockets past Collegiate in a non-division game.
Derby 43, Arkansas City 35 — The visiting Panthers trailed by three at halftime but turned it on in the third quarter. Grace Mitchell had 15 points and Madi Greenwood 13 for Derby, while Kaitlyn Potter had 17 points and Jordan Salas had 15 for Ark City.
Hutchinson 48, Goddard 38 — Hutchinson rallied at Goddard from a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win by 10. Jenna Clasen had 21 points to lead Goddard.
Maize South 51, Nickerson 35 — Mariah Suchan had 19 points to lead the host Mavericks to a non-league victory.
Augusta 65, KC Christian 36 — The Orioles built a 16-5 first-quarter lead for a Baldwin Invitational victory. Connor Hurst had 23 points and Sean Brandenburg 13 for the Orioles.
Andale 65, Rose Hill 29 — Bo Knoblauch had 14 points and Jeffery Ast and Jason Hermreck had 13 each for the Indians in an Adolph Rupp Invitational game.
Cheney 45, Halstead 41 — The Cardinals won a first-round game at the Adolph Rupp tournament in Halstead despite not scoring in the second period. Ty Patterson (18 points) made 5 of 6 free throws in the fourth quarter for Cheney, while Cameron Hill added 11 points.
Salina Central 62, Andover 58 — Treyton Hines scored 20 points as host Central won a Salina Invitational first-round game. Adam DeKoning had 18 points to lead Andover.
Eisenhower 84, KC (Mo.) Metro 47 — Trevon Evans scored 34 points to help Eisenhower rout KC Metro in a first-round game at the Spring Hill Invitational. Eisenhower built a 23-10 first-quarter lead. Daniel Southworth chipped in 15 for the Tigers.
