Girls roundup: Augusta upsets Buhler

Breanna Burkett scored 12 points and Casady Marlnee had 10 as Augusta’s girls basketball team upset Buhler 40-33 in overtime for an Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League non-division victory on Tuesday night in Buhler.

Augusta won its third game of the season while Buhler fell to 7-6.

Josie Williams led Buhler with 12 points.

Other AV-CTL

McPherson 50, Andale 32 — Katelyn Loecker had 17 points and Hailey Ruder 15 for the host Bullpups in the non-division game. Brittany Meyer had 13 and Rachel Eck 10 for Andale.

Circle 47, El Dorado 42, OT — El Dorado rallied in the fourth quarter to force overtime before Circle prevailed. Alexis Wiebe led a balanced Circle attack with 10 points. El Dorado’s Andrea Valadez scored a game-high 19.

Mulvane 42, Collegiate 25 — Destynee Donaldson led all scorers with 18 points as Mulvane pulled away in the second half. Alex Payne had eight points for Collegiate.

Andover Central 65, Goddard 33 — The host Jaguars cruised behind 23 points from Skyler Snodgrass and 14 from Evan Stamp. Central led 41-19 at halftime.

Maize South 28, Valley Center 25 — Mariah Suchan led the visiting Mavericks with nine points.

Wellington 51, Rose Hill 32 — Kailey Jenkins had 14 points to lead the visiting Crusaders to a non-division victory. Autumn Lipscomb’s 12 points led Rose Hill.

City League

South 51, Southeast 28 — Kendrian Elliott had 13 points and Kirea Rogers had 12 as South jumped ahead of Southeast early and was never threatened. Alex Arline had 10 points for Southeast.

Heights 50, Carroll 29 — Katie Palmer had 14 points and Jada Lynch 13 in the Falcons’ road victory. Heights took a 19-12 halftime lead and blew the game open in the fourth quarter. Hannah Schauf had eight to lead Carroll.

Kapaun 62, East 39 — The Crusaders found a burst in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win in their first game back since losing their first two games of the season in the Newton tournament. Sydney Kuhn scored a game-high 22 points for Kapaun (11-2, 9-0 City League), while East (5-8, 3-6) was led by Relina Johnson with 10 points.

Northwest 49, North 33 — Northwest forced 24 turnovers as the Grizzlies won their second straight game and ended North’s two-game winning streak. Northwest was led by Shayla Cotman’s 12 points and eight rebounds, while Cassie Pauls added 10 points, Katie Cramer nine. Terache Wilson led North with 10 points.

Central Plains League

Conway Springs 32, Cheney 26 — Stacy Sones had 12 points to lead the visiting Cardinals over Cheney. Taylor Denney had 10 to lead Cheney, which was shut out in the third quarter.

Douglass 41, Independent 34 — Janelle Fowler was the only player on either side in double figures, scoring 10 points for the visiting Bulldogs.

Garden Plain 46, Medicine Lodge 23 — Lizzie Costello had 10 points and Cassidy Haukap and Alli Heimerman added nine each for host Garden Plain in its victory. Addie Roe had 10 for Medicine Lodge.

Trinity Academy 58, Belle Plaine 35 — Shiloh Miller had 24 points and was one of 10 Knights to score in the road victory. Danielle Balzer had 21 points to lead Belle Plaine.
