Roundup: Augusta second half shocks El Dorado

Connor Hurst scored 26 points, including 10 in Augusta’s 35-point third quarter, as the Orioles upset El Dorado 85-62 in a Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League non-division game on Tuesday night at Augusta.

Trailing 39-26 at halftime, Augusta (4-8) blistered El Dorado (9-3) with a 35-7 third quarter. Kesten Trebbe had 11 points in the period.

Augusta scored 24 more points in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Kyler Steinkamp had 16 points, with Trebbe and Chase Winter adding 15.

Travis House led El Dorado with 21 points.

City League

West 79, North 67 — West’s full-court pressure gave North problems in the Redskins’ first City League loss. North was playing its second game without All-State senior Conner Frankamp. Kennedy Bates scored 24 points, Jordan Kelly had 10 and Anfernee Boykins had 18 and 11 rebounds for West, which has won four of its last five games. North, led by Zach Beard’s 23 points, has lost two straight after a 10-0 start.

Other AV-CTL

Andover Central 57, Maize 40 — Zach Winter scored 19 points, hitting three three-pointers, to help Andover Central win. Connor Eleeson led Maize with 11 points. Darrajo Parnell added 11 and Cameron Hurley had 10 for Andover Central.

Collegiate 56, Rose Hill 40 — Riley Kemmer scored 22 points to led host Collegiate past Rose Hill. Bret Waddell led Rose Hill with 13 points.

Circle 45, McPherson 44 — The host T-Birds built a first-half lead then withstood McPherson’s comeback in a non-division victory. Stewart Dennison led Circle with 10 points, while Kyler Kinnamon had 15 to lead McPherson.

Derby 72, Arkansas City 33 — The host Panthers took command with a 24-6 first quarter and cruised to a non-division victory. Dylan Hunter had 16 points and Tyler Chambers 13 for Derby, while Kade Kanelakos had 13 points to lead Ark City.

Collegiate 56, Rose Hill 40 — Riley Kemmer scored eight of his 22 points in the third quarter when Collegiate took charge over Rose Hill. Bret Waddell led Rose Hill in scoring with 13.

Girls tournaments

Trinity Academy 56, Burrton 18 — Shiloh Miller had 15 points to lead the Knights to a first-round victory at the Sedgwick tournament.
