Area Golf Notes (April 1)

Andover returns seniors Michael Morris, Evan Clopine, and Ryan Hoover to go along with junior Chad Phillips.

Andover Central will look to juniors Jeff Sherman, Nathan Fawver, and Michael Conner to lead. Sherman was a state qualifier in 2011.

Arkansas City senior Tayler Smith returns after being the AVCTL II individual champion last year. Senior Deryk Speck and junior Dax Shaw also come back after qualifying for state last year.

Bluestem is full of experience, with six seniors returning. Senior Josh Hrabe was a state qualifier last year.

Buhler will have the experience of five state qualifiers from last year’s team, including four seniors.

Senior Gage Scheer, a three-time state qualifier, is the top returner for Cheney.

Circle junior Dominic Lara returns after qualifying for state last year. Senior Jaycob Hughey will provide some experience.

Derby will have to rebuild after losing four seniors. Sophomore Jeremy Dunham and junior Kevin Gurley should ease the transition, as both were state qualifiers a year ago.

El Dorado sophomore Travis House should provide experience after placing eleventh at 4A state last year.

Goddard seniors Rylee Gale and Lucas Casenove will be leaders for a team that finished second in the AVCTL II last year.

Independent will look to senior Eddie Fahnestock to lead after losing five seniors from last year. Freshman Sean Smith will be a key contributor right away.

Senior Kramer Howell will lead the way for Maize. Howell comes off a 2011 season in which he got second at 6A state.

Mulvane junior Gage Cain returns after being a state qualifier in 2011.

Newton brings a lot of experience back from last year’s team. Junior Lane Pauls is the top returner.

Senior Mikey Young and sophomore Jake Kinney will lead Nickerson.

Peabody-Burns brings back three golfers from last year’s team, including senior Matt Hiebert.

Remington junior Kyle Regier was a state qualifier last year. Senior Eric Janzen and junior Paul Janzen are also top returners.

Sedgwick returns four golfers from last year’s varsity team. Senior Elliott Money is a two-time state qualifier.

Trinity Academy brings back five golfers from last year’s team that won the Central Plains League championship.

Winfield returns five golfers from last year’s team. Senior Seth Bryan finished third at 4A state last year.
