Southeast boys basketball coach Carl Taylor has resigned after 20 years, finishing as the City League leader in wins — 315 — with three Class 6A titles.

Taylor, who had already retired as a teacher, has coached high school basketball for 35 years, including at Bonner Springs, where he won a title, and at Junction City.

Taylor, who has battled various illnesses, said he’s feeling well, better than in recent years. He said he could still coach at another high school, but his future will have connections to basketball.

With a Southeast record of 345-146, Taylor is the second long-time coach to resign following the season. East coach Ron Allen resigned earlier.
