The Maize school district put out on Twitter this morning that “due to the high temperature and heat index we are in the red zone. Practices will be moved to 6:00 pm.”
I thought we were done with the high temps, but apparently not.
It’s important that school districts to take such measures because the heat is no joke, especially now that the football players can wear pads starting today.
I remember all too well 1998 when Southeast’s Robert Alexander Barrett and Circle’s Matthew Whittredge died because of heat-related issues.
