The list of Kansas Sports Hall of Fame inductees are below, but two stand out to me — Kendra Wecker and Mark Simoneau.
Wecker, a Marysville and Kansas State grad, was one of my favorite high school athletes to cover. I wrote about her as a sophomore and only saw her a few times a year, but she was such a wonderful person to be around. Her athleticism was ridiculous, but her personality was so special.
I didn’t cover Mark Simoneau while he was at Smith Center– he was already at Kansas State when I came to The Eagle — but I well remember his exploits with the Wildcats.
It’s good to see some stud athletes honored.
