Did the Wichita public school district make the right decision by not cutting sophomore boys basketball and two sophomore football teams (Heights, Northwest) and C-teams for baseball, softball and soccer?
The cuts to sports would have totaled around $170,000. Those coaches would still be employed by the district, since they are supplemental contracts.
But should sports have taken a hit when the district has axed the fifth-grade strings program? Is one more important than the other?
