The state swim meet is next weekend in Topeka, the second season with two classes — Class 6A and Class 5-1A — after years of having just one class.
My question to you is, are you pleased that the state split up state swimming? My guess is yes. Fact is, Class 6A tends to dominate and the KC-area schools are so deep with talent, that having a second class opens up more opportunities for smaller classes.
I do feel the need to point out that even small schools did well in the one-class system — specifically Trinity Academy. That’s what happens when you have a future Olympian swimming! (Caroline Bruce, if you don’t remember)
City League swimming is tonight — what are the events you’re looking most to watching? It looks like East will roll to the tourney title and win the overall City League title. How will second through fifth finish?
