Varsity Kansas

Football (9-27)

Classifications came out today, but no, it doesn’t affect football. So Hutchinson moving back into 6A does nothing to football. (That’s my public service announcement for the day.)

We’ve got some decent games this week, teams with very good records playing each other. What stands out to you?

Heights took it to Great Bend last week, solidifying its standing as one of the state’s best. Unfortunately, Dreamius Smith was kicked out of that game early and will miss Thursday’s game against Northwest. While Heights will be OK and will win that game, it’s unfortunate that Smith misses two games because of something that just shouldn’t happen.

It’s frustrating to see that happen.

Bishop Carroll plays East, which is 3-1, but I think Bishop Carroll handles the Aces.

Maize, how about Maize? Sitting at 3-1 and playing host to Salina Central.

Hutchinson walloped, just whooped up on, Salina Central, winning 60-7, and plays at Salina South this week. I would expecte more of the same.

Poor Andover goes from Maize last week to Derby this week.

So who stands out to you at this point in the season?

It’s only two more weeks until we get to see Gardner-Edgerton at McPherson. That’s a game you don’t want to miss.
